Anthony Fauci sees hope for Americans after the positive vaccine trial results from Pfizer and Moderna

The U.S Government’s top infectious disease specialist – Anthony Fauci is hopeful of America coming close to some normalcy by fall next year. The positive trial results of the vaccine from Pfizer and Moderna have let to this optimism. He has predicted that a large number of Americans stand the chance of being vaccinated against COVID-19 by next year’s second quarter, and he further predicted that the heard immunity is likely to be acquired by fall next year. Speaking at an online  news conference on Dec 1st with Jared Polis, the Colorado Governor he said that people without any pre -existing ailments or heightened health risks will gain access to the vaccines by April next year. He also mentioned that if some  Americans throw away the suspicions associated with the vaccines, and start adopting immunization then most of the people would have got the shot by August next year.

The acquisition of herd immunity according to him would make it safe for children to get back to school by fall and people could get back to work. President –elect Joe Biden had asked Fauci to continue in his current role. Fauci however was not very positive considering the new cases of COVID-19 recently. The US had added more than 200,000 cases a day, and he could see it only getting worse during the holiday season if people would not follow the pandemic safety precautions and rules.

What does emerge as a ray of hope though in this particularly grim situation in the USA is the nation’s top virus doctor now talking of herd immunity in the next nine months. This positivity and ray of hope has come about in the wake of the positive vaccine trials of Pfizer and Moderna.
