US-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology has revealed after conducting a study that the risk of contracting this deadly high-risk virus remains equally high whether you are 6 feet away or more than that. The earlier 6 feet theory was propagated keeping in mind that when a person coughs, sneezes, sings, or talks, the transmission occurred to others through the nose and mouth. 

In recent and latest studies, scientists have found out that aerosols or tinier particles remain suspended in the air for a longer time.  So irrespective of the distance the people are at, the risk of inhaling these particles is very high.

There is another misconception that has occurred and that is physical distancing and social distancing. You can be connected socially through various means, like the internet and telephony so social distancing creates isolation. It works on the mind and people start getting depressed. Social gatherings are a big no-no. Therefore, here the word social distancing is fine. We should not be a part of large gatherings or social occasions where COVID protocols are not followed. We have to be socially distanced as well as physically distanced.

 

Social distancing leads to loneliness, drug abuse, mental disorders, and many other negative conditions. You can therefore be socially connected but physically distanced. Every human being likes to share their joys and troubles with their friends and family, and in these turbulent times, it is very important to be able to talk to each other and find out their welfare. Conversation helps.  Conversation helps dispel worries, lessen troubles deal with despair, and also help you tide through these difficult times. 

In today’s modern time’s technology has made us closely knit so there are ample opportunities to socially connecting with each other while maintaining a physical distance!
