The district headquarters are Dumka, Chaibasa, Garhwa, Godda, Latehar, Lohardaga, Pakur, Palamu, Purbi Singhbhum, and Simdega.

    History of the Capital of Jharkhand:

    Jharkhand is a state in eastern India. The region now comprising the state of Jharkhand was part of Bihar before the creation of Jharkhand state on 15 November 2000. Jharkhand shares its border with the states of Uttar Pradesh to the northwest, Chhattisgarh to the west, Odisha to the south, and West Bengal to the east. The capital of Jharkhand is Ranchi.

    The region now comprising the state of Jharkhand has a rich cultural heritage. The early history of this region is shrouded in mystery. The discovery of coins and seals dating back to the Mauryan period (322-185 BC) suggests that this region was inhabited during that time. However, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that a formal kingdom existed in this region at that time.

The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Ranchi was Rs. 83,746 crores in 2016-17, which is 9.4% of the GSDP of Jharkhand. The major sectors that contribute to the economy of Ranchi are agriculture, industry, and services.

    The agriculture sector accounts for around 27% of the GDP of Ranchi. The main crops grown in the city are rice, maize, pulses, and vegetables. The industry sector accounts for around 31% of the GDP of Ranchi and is dominated by small and medium enterprises.

    Festivals in the Capital:

    The capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi, is a city that celebrates its festivals with great fervor. The most important festival celebrated in Ranchi is Dussehra, which marks the victory of good over evil. This festival is celebrated in October with great pomp and show. The city comes alive with processions, music, dance, and fireworks. Another major festival celebrated in Ranchi is Holi, the Hindu festival of colors. This festival is celebrated in March with lots of fun and frolic. People throw colored powder and water at each other to celebrate the arrival of spring. Many smaller festivals are celebrated in Ranchi, such as Karthik Purnima (a festival celebrating the moon), Janmashtami (a Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna), and Rath Yatra (a religious procession).
