In Conversation with Leading Entrepreneur Luis Jorge Rios

Becoming an entrepreneur is very difficult, but the results are more than worth it in the end. If you’ve been considering taking the plunge, entrepreneur Luis Jorge Rios can help you reach your full potential. Here’s an interview with the veteran and businessman.

    Tell us about your business.

I’m most passionate about interviewing celebrities. I’ve talked to both Mario Lopez and Mark Cuban, and I learned a lot from them. Our conversation even led to Mark Cuban being my mentor. I also dominated in the high-end ticket sales game, bringing in large amounts of capital for nonprofits.

How does your background in the military help you in your positions?

I’m a combat veteran who served in the US army for 10 years. I was deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and learned a lot about determination and hard work. I graduated with a degree in counterterrorism and spent the first part of my career traveling to Israel and Spain. Though what I work on now doesn’t directly correlate with the army, it makes me want to help people, especially other combat vets.

What is it like to work with TEDx?

I’ve gotten to meet so many amazing people through this work. The events I attend are in Puerto Rico, so I’m able to hear a unique and diverse perspective. I organize the events to help inspire others, and so people can get their stories out there. This is one of my favorite parts of my profession.

Do you have advice for other people who want to follow in your footsteps?

You only have one life, so there’s no time to delay. Do a small amount of research, then get your hands dirty. Don’t procrastinate. And no matter how hard things get, don’t let failures drag you down. They’re a normal part of business. Without them, how would you learn?

How do you help other people in your field?

I can assist anyone who has passion. That’s not something that can be manufactured. They also have to have a great work ethic, as the spheres I’m in are difficult to work in. I coach other entrepreneurs and show them how to reach my levels of success. While I can’t take on everyone, I have a special place in my heart for veterans and those suffering from PTSD.

Luis Jorge Rios is a jack of all trades and wants to continue to grow his portfolio as a journalist going forward. He can’t wait to tell people about the next big name he’s working with.
