Zayn gives a rare interview and claims the members of One Direction are weary of each other. Zayn is open about his personal and professional life. The performer and former member of One Direction appeared on the video podcast “Call Her Daddy,” where he discussed co-parenting with model Gigi Hadid, among other topics.
The interview, his first in nearly six years, was conducted at Alex Cooper’s Pennsylvania childhood residence. Zayn now resides in Pennsylvania, prompting Cooper to inquire, “Why Pennsylvania?”

“Many individuals ask me this. “They always find it odd that I live out here,” he explained. “I’d been frequenting this bar with my former [Hadid]… I am infatuated with it. It’s like a state of extreme tranquility. I simply desired a break from the bustling scene.”
He and Hadid have an infant daughter together. The couple divorced in October of 2021.
Zayn has stated that becoming a father has altered him, to the point of alleviating his anxiety. Since having a daughter, being a positive example to her has been his top priority, he told Cooper. “Do you know why I’m even conducting this interview? I used to experience a great deal of apprehension when having conversations like this. I want her to be able to look at me and say, “My father is doing this.”
It did not help his anxiety that he and his friends Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson became extremely famous as One Direction.
He was the first member to quit the group in 2015, a decision he stated was deliberate.
“I wanted to be the first person to make their own record for purely selfish reasons,” Zayn explained.
“I was thinking, ‘This is the first time I’m going to jump the gun,'” he said. “When it comes to my music and my livelihood, I am passive. I take it seriously, and I am competitive. I desired to be the first to strike out on my own.”
In addition, Zayn explained what was going on with the group at the time it went on hiatus, months after he departed.
Clearly, underlying issues existed within our alliances, he stated. Since we had been together every day for five years, we eventually grew tired of each other.
His debut album, “Mind Of Mine,” was released in 2016.
“It’s a very different experience standing by yourself on stage,” he told Cooper, adding that it comes with its own pressures.
