Giants acquire Isaiah Simmons from the Cardinals for a seventh-round choice in 2024. The time that Isaiah Simmons had with the Cardinals has finally ended.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Cardinals and the Giants have agreed about the trade of the Cardinals’ first-round pick in 2020. In exchange for Simmons, the Arizona Cardinals will get a seventh-round draft pick from the New York Giants in 2024.

As a result of Simmons’s stellar performance as a star and versatile member of the Clemson defense during his time in college, the Cardinals selected him with the eighth overall choice. During his time in college, he played the off-ball linebacker position, the pass rusher position, the safety position, and the slot corner position. However, as he moved up to the NFL level, he needed help finding comfortable and productive work.

Simmons joined the Cardinals when General Manager Steve Keim and Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury were running the show, but both men were let go after the conclusion of the 2017 season. The new leadership planned on Simmons playing safety throughout the summer, but they decided to trade him away for such a low return, which shows that they did not like what they were getting out of him in that role.

It needs to be apparent what the Giants intend to do with Simmons. Still, they will have the opportunity to find out whether or not a change of scenery leads to improved performance from a player who was highly regarded by many people when he first entered the league.
