Pakistan intends to sign up for the BRICS group next year.

Pakistan intends to sign up for the BRICS group next year.

Pakistan’s recently appointed Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, told the Russian media that his country has submitted an application to join the BRICS group of countries in 2024 and that it is relying on Russia’s support during the membership process.

Pakistan intends to sign up for the BRICS group next year. In an interview with TASS, Jamali stated that Pakistan intended to join the organization the next year, with Russia serving as its president. He also mentioned that Islamabad was in contact with member nations to seek support for the country’s membership, but that it was dependent on Russia’s help.

“Pakistan would like to be part of this important organization and we are in the process of contacting member countries for extending support to Pakistan’s membership in general and the Russian Federation in particular,” Jamali stated.

BRICS, which stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, are significant rising economies that have long aspired to have more influence over the United States and its Western allies in the world economy. The group was founded in 2010.

President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa revealed during the 15th BRICS Summit in August of this year that invitations to join the organization had been extended to Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The announcement stated that membership would take effect immediately.

Prior to the forthcoming meeting in Kazan, the BRICS intended to agree on a list of candidates for partner-state status, according to remarks made by Sergey Ryabkov, the deputy foreign minister of Russia, last month. He went on to say that extending the “circle of BRICS friends” would receive special attention while Russia serves as the chairman.
