In an endeavor to have the country reinstated by the International Cricket Council following allegations of corruption, the sports minister of Sri Lanka revoked the dismissal of the cricket board on Tuesday. Lanka rescinds the dismissal of the cricket board.
Harin Fernando stated on X, formerly Twitter, “I signed a gazette to revoke the decision appointing an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket to lift our ICC suspension.”

Fernando added that he had also requested the ICC’s “observations” regarding an audit report concerning the board’s alleged corruption during the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.
In November, the elected board was dismissed by Roshan Ranasinghe, Fernando’s predecessor, in favor of an interim commission led by Arjuna Ranatunga, the Sri Lankan national team captain who won the 1996 World Cup.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended Sri Lanka, citing the board’s failure to prevent political interference in the game’s administration.
As a result of the corruption controversy within the board, the wealthiest sporting organization in an otherwise insolvent nation, Ranasinghe, was fired late last month.
