Priyanka Chopra has come a long way from her days of struggle in India, to emerge as a global icon today. Priyanka Chopra is the role model for many aspiring actors, models and even entrepreneurs. She has successfully ventured into the world of modelling, acting, singing and even producing. Her claim to fame began with her winning the Miss World title in 2000. That win catapulted her to fame and made her a globally familiar name. She then got the opportunity to star in Bollywood movies. Her debut film was The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, where she played the second female lead. This movie however did not fetch her the name and fame that she was hoping for. It was her negative role in Aitraz that won her appreciation and visibility. However, post the success of that film most of her other films that followed bombed at the box office. Priyanka faced a lot of struggle and hardships in Bollywood without any filmi connections or godfather to back her. Her humble middleclass upbringing had only the major win of Miss World to fall back upon and clearly that was not providing her any headway. She was written off as an actor by many. During her studies in the US she was subjected to racial discrimination and made fun off.
By a stroke of luck good films like Barfi, Kaminey, Fashion and a few others ensured that the spotlight shone on her. After being recognised as a talented actor she sealed the written statement on her talent with a master stroke in the biopic Mary Kom.
Then began her US foray into the world of music and acting. She debuted as a singer in 2012 and her singing was much appreciated. It almost seemed as if her days of struggle were nearly over. She then landed the prestigious American TV series – Quantico in 2015. This made her a global name and she gained worldwide recognition. She also turned producer with her own production company Purple Pebble Pictures. In 2016, her production house produced Ventilator, a Marathi film that went on to win the National award. The production house then started producing other films and most recently The White Tiger. Priyanka is known for her philanthropic work and has also started her own hair care line Anomaly – as an entrepreneur. Her earlier failures did not dampen her spirit to succeed and she rose to meteoric heights of success. Shen now has the much-coveted surname of Jonas after marrying the immensely successful Nick Jonas.
