Technology giant Google has decided to provide Google Chrome support for users of Windows 7 for another six months. For the unaware, Google Chrome is a cross-platform web browser generated by Google. It was initially released in 2008 for Microsoft Windows and then ported to Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android. Earlier, Google had kept the deadline as 15 July 2021, however, now it plans to extend the last date depending on the feedback and suggestions received from its customers.

Google said in a blog post how the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is going to take more time than expected earlier. As per the report by Google, 78% of the companies have migrated to Windows 10 but there are still 21% of companies who are still using Windows 7. Also, 1% of organizations are soon going to complete the migration process to new Windows. As of now, the company has announced the extension of another six months. However, Google will keep a track on the situation and then only make any further changes.

Google wrote in its blog post, “With this extension of support, enterprises with their upgrades still in progress can rest assured that their users remaining on Windows 7 will continue to benefit from Chrome’s security and productivity benefits.”

“IT teams can also take advantage of Chrome’s existing enterprise capabilities and future roadmap, including our continued investment in cloud management, enterprise security capabilities, and our plans to integrate more closely with the broader ecosystem across the operating system versions,” it further said.

The great news for enterprises is that they still have the last date as 15 January 2020 for using Chrome on Windows 7 and have enough time now to migrate to Windows 10. Earlier in January 2020, Microsoft stopped its support for Windows 7.
