Technoblade, Minecraft YouTuber watched by millions, dead at 23: The family of Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade confirmed on Friday that he passed away at the age of 23, following a struggle with cancer that lasted for one year.
A farewell video message from the content creator’s son was uploaded to YouTube under the title “so long, geeks,” and it was shared by the creator’s father with the subscribers of his channel.
The message started out by saying, “Hello everyone, Technoblade here.” “If you’re following along, you. I am dead.”
In the video, Technoblade, who has been careful not to divulge his true identity, clarified that his name is actually Alex. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to his audience for watching his videos, purchasing his gear, and subscribing to his channel, and he joked that his siblings “are going to college.”
“I believe that if I had another hundred lives, I would choose to be Technoblade again each and every time since those were the happiest years of my life. If I had another hundred lives, I would choose to be Technoblade again. I really hope you all had fun reading my content and that I was able to make some of you laugh. I also wish for each of you to have a long, healthy, and successful life.”
Sharing his enthusiasm for the video game Minecraft, which allows players to construct their own worlds out of bricks and write their own narratives, helped Technoblade accumulate nearly 11 million subscribers on YouTube and 3.7 million followers on Twitter in a little under a decade’s time. He told his followers during a video of himself playing the game in August 2021 that he sought medical care after having pain in his arm, which he initially felt was a repetitive stress injury from gaming. He went public with his cancer diagnosis at that time.
His father claims that his son, Technoblade, penned his last message around eight hours before he passed away. The father of Technoblade, who was fighting back tears as he spoke, referred to his son as “the most amazing kid” anyone could ever want and then said, “I miss Technoblade.”
The conclusion of the film, which has received more than 19 million views, was a message read out by Technoblade’s family, and it read as follows: “As he fought cancer at the stage four-level, this past year was filled with many challenging moments for our son. But he didn’t grumble and kept applying his well-known strategic mind to the challenge of beating the odds, even though he knew they were nearly insurmountable. The bravery that my son displayed along this journey was an inspiring example for those of us who had the opportunity to walk it with him. We are grateful that you have shared his journey with us while he did the work that he cherished for his devoted followers throughout it all.”
The internet has been inundated with tributes to the deceased player from fans, celebrities, and other gamers.
Ted Nivison, who posts on YouTube, recalled him as: “The humor comes out naturally. Endlessly skilled. Gone too soon. Technoblade, you should get some rest.”
Another renowned YouTuber, TommyInnit, posted the following on his Twitter account: “The video game Technoblade is a goddamned classic. I started out as a huge admirer of his music and eventually became one of his true friends. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have been a part of his life. I have no doubt that he is plotting in heaven how he might triumph over God.”
A statement from the Sarcoma Foundation of America was sent to CNN in which they paid respect to Technoblade and expressed their “deepest condolences to his family.”
In the release, the Chief Executive Officer of the charity, Brandi Felser, said the following: “To date, the supporters of Technoblade have raised over $500,000 to contribute to sarcoma research thanks to the efforts of Technoblade. This made it possible for SFA to give research funds in the name of Technoblade. Because of his efforts, he leaves behind a legacy that will have an effect on future generations.”
Later on in 2018, according to Felser, the group will bestow its Courage Award upon Technoblade. This distinction is presented annually to individuals who inspire others “to build hope and a better life for the sarcoma community.” Technoblade will be honored with this accolade.
