Elderly store owner shoots armed robbery suspect who yells: He shot off my arm! An 80-year-old California liquor shop owner was seen on film opening fire with a shotgun on a would-be robber, which caused the perpetrator to flee the establishment while yelling, “he shot my arm off!” The incident was captured on tape.
After being accosted by a shooter armed with a rifle early on Sunday morning at Norco Market & Liquor in Norco, California, located east of Los Angeles, the store owner acted in self-defense by pulling a gun on the intruder in news.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office made the following statement regarding the incident: “In this case, a lawfully armed member of our community avoided a violent crime and guaranteed their safety while being confronted with numerous armed criminals.”
The masked suspect can be seen on surveillance footage obtained by Fox11 Los Angeles pointing a rifle in the direction of the store owner just before the owner reaches behind the counter, grabs a shotgun, and fires shots in the order of the suspect.
As the suspect fled out of business and into a getaway vehicle outside, he was heard yelling, “he shot my arm off!” as he ran the scene.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged shooter, who is 23 years old and has not been officially identified, was located later at a local hospital “suffering from a gunshot wound consistent with a shotgun blast.”
He is currently in a critical but stable state, and after he is released from the hospital, he will be placed in jail.
Justin Johnson, 22, of Inglewood, Jamar Williams, 27, of Los Angeles, and Davon Broadus, 24, of Las Vegas were identified as the other males located at the hospital. The police claim was also inside the getaway vehicle. All three guys were found at the same hospital.
The BMW SUV in which they were traveling had been reported stolen in the past, and it was discovered to contain several stolen firearms. As a result, each of those men is now facing charges of robbery and conspiracy, and the sheriff’s office has added that they are being held instead of a bail amount of $500,000 each.
According to Fox11 LA, the store’s owner, who is 80 years old and suffered a heart attack shortly after the attempted robbery, is currently recovering in the hospital. The heart attack occurred shortly after the attempted robbery.
