A former senior intelligence official who is well aware of intelligence transition discussions has disclosed that the Trump administration prevented Joe Biden’s transition team from meeting its counterparts this week at the Pentagon Intelligence agencies.
Although all other meetings of Biden are now happening smoothly after weeks of delay, Biden’s team has not been able to meet military intelligence agencies within the Defence department.
The Pentagon has however denied such news and mentioned that a few meetings were taking place but did not give any details of those meetings.
The General Services Administration has given the go ahead on November 23 for the federal agencies officials across the government to meet the President-elect’s Agency Review Teams. This they felt is important to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
While courts across the country dismiss Trump’s claims of election frauds, he still continues to voice his baseless claims.
Pentagon had informed earlier this week that Biden’s team wouldn’t have any engagement with the defence intelligence agencies, unless they had given their questions in advance along with a list of the people with whom they wanted to interact.
Kash Patel, the Defense Department’s general counsel and a Trump loyalist would then review the request of Biden’s team.
The spokesperson of the Defense Department Sue Gough, denied any such issue regarding the meetings of Biden’s team. Gough said that the DOD Agency review team has not been refused any access. In a statement issued by Gough she said that the visits had a tentative schedule of early next week. The spokesperson of the Biden transition team Ned Price refuse to comment on this issue.
Vince Stewart whoa was a former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency and former deputy director of US Cyber Command visited the Director of National Intelligence’s office. He is currently a co- leader of Biden’s intelligence team.
