Barça won the Spanish Super Cup defeating Real Madrid. Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-1 to claim their first Spanish Super Cup title since the competition was revamped and relocated to Saudi Arabia.
In a lucrative deal for the Spanish football federation, Barcelona won the Super Cup on Sunday at King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski, Gavi, and Pedri. This was Barcelona’s first Super Cup title since 2018, and the first since the tournament switched to a Final-Four format in 2020.
This was Barcelona’s first championship since former player Xavi took over as coach in 2021 and the first since Lionel Messi left for Paris Saint-Germain.

Gavi scored first in the 33rd minute from close range off a pass from Lewandowski, and Lewandowski doubled the lead on a breakaway off another assist from Gavi right before halftime.
In the 69th minute, Gavi assisted Pedri on a breakaway that resulted in a goal from close range. After much extra time, Madrid got a consolation goal from Karim Benzema.
Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, suffered his first final loss since 2014. Barcelona has broken the record for most Super Cup victories with 14. The tally of Madrid’s wins stands at 12.

Formerly, the Super Cup featured the league champion and the Copa del Rey winner from Spain. The runners-up in both competitions are now included.
The league champion, Madrid, took the field, followed by the runner-up, Barcelona. The current Super Cup contract in Saudi Arabia is set to expire after the 2024/25 season.
