Top Rookie Performers from Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft. The NFL rookies selected in the first round get the majority of the attention, but those chosen on Day 2 are just as good and don’t have to deal with the additional pressure of being a first-round pick. This allows them to play more freely and influence the game early.
During their first year in the league, running backs Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker III, both selected in the second draft round, rapidly made names for themselves as dynamic playmakers and positioned their respective clubs to qualify for the playoffs. After Hall went down with a season-ending injury, the Jets’ offense was never the same, and as a result, the team’s chances of making the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 campaign were dashed.

Walker played a significant role in the Seahawks’ ability to qualify for the playoffs and ended in second place in the voting for Offensive Rookie of the Year, behind only Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Bears safety Jaquan Brisker, a 2022 second-round pick, is now regarded as a cornerstone piece for the organization after having a remarkable rookie season in which he recorded 104 total tackles and four sacks. The Bears selected Brisker in the second round.
This year is expected to be the same as previous years, with more players selected in the second and third rounds being immediate game-changers for their clubs. In several mock drafts, Porter was projected to go to Pittsburgh due to his father’s connections to the Steelers organization as a tremendous player for the team. However, few people anticipated that the younger Porter would still be available in the second round. When playing for Penn State, Porter may have exhibited the characteristics of an undisciplined defender. But under the tutelage of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and the influence of Patrick Peterson, a player selected to the Pro Bowl eight times, there is a good chance that Porter will kick his bad habits. The fact that Porter fell in the selection will further motivate him to reach his great potential as a rookie.
