Human beings are social beings and staying aloof from others brings an air of despondency and frustration. What are the things we can do to cope with the crisis that the whole world is undergoing and remain calm and happy? Here are a few suggestions:
Develop a hobby – Try to engage your mind actively in something that you like doing and which brings out the creativity in you. It will keep your mind away from all negative thoughts. The more fun the activity is the better impact it will have on your physical and mental wellbeing.
Use social media effectively – Use the technological advancements to your advantage instead of being a slave to technology. Use the internet to communicate with your friends and family from India and all parts of the world at convenient time zone meetings. Use video, facetime, skype, and what’s app calls to stay in touch. You will feel close to them and use your time gainfully instead of moping and indulging in self-pity.
Fix a Routine – Staying at home doesn’t mean that you will have no routine. Prioritize your tasks and keep time slots for all activities, this will make you feel useful and engaged.
Take time to organize your house – Now that you have more time on hand try and do all the things you wanted to do when you were rushing to the office and wished for more time at home. Indulge in gardening, organizing your cupboard, dusting and rearranging books and items. This will leave you with a feel-good factor and a sense of accomplishment.
Include more hours of sleep in your daily routine – Try and include a power nap as and when you can or an afternoon siesta.
Exercise and maintain a fitness regime – This is a very important aspect of happiness. A good fitness routine will release a feel-good factor and also work wonders for your mental and physical health. Do simple exercises that you can do at home and half an hour of brisk walking and see the miraculous results.
These are very trying times for all of us and we need to do our bit to ensure that we radiate positivity and happiness not only for ourselves but for all those around us!
