In a statement, Moon Bin’s management agency, Fantagio, acknowledged the news of his passing. They said that he “suddenly left us and became a star in the sky” and that his colleagues in the industry and company authorities were grieving him with “profound sadness and shock.”

Moon Bin debuted in 2016 as a member of the six-member boyband Astro. The band was formed not long after the singers participated in a singing competition on television. The band soon achieved fame in South Korea and Japan, and in that same year, Billboard ranked them in the top 10 of its list of new K-pop groups, praising them for their “bright, synthpop sound that won over K-pop lovers from around the world.”
Moon Bin also participated in the musical project known as Moonbin & Sanha, in which Yoon San-ha, another member of Astro, served as his musical partner. The Indonesian event promoter Lumina Entertainment announced on Wednesday that the performance by the duo was canceled in Jakarta owing to “unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.”
In recent years, the deaths of several South Korean singers and actresses by suicide have prompted introspection about the tough competition in the rapidly expanding entertainment industry, an abusive internet culture, and the inadequacy of management to treat the mental health concerns of their stars.
The body of actress Jung Chae-full, who was 26 years old at the time of her death, was discovered at her residence last week. Her agency did not disclose the circumstances behind her unexpected passing.
