The Royal Albert Hall IN London was the venue for BAFTA 2021, and two icons in the world of cinema the late Irrfan Khan and late Rishi Kapoor were among a few others who were honoured posthumously.
The tragic demise of these two stalwarts from the Indian film industry on 2021, had left their family, fans, friends and well wishers completely shocked. Irrfan had also worked in Hollywood films like Inferno, Jurassic World and Life of Pi. Rishi Kapoor had a legacy of 5 decades and had worked in more than 100 films.
The two veterans were given a glowing tribute at the 74th BAFTA. Video tributes were given to other icons who left for their heavenly abode recently. These included Sir Sean Connery, Ian Holm, Kirk Douglas, Barbara Windsor who featured in the list of 40 names that included producers, technicians, writers, directors and other departed actors. The Black Panther Chadwick Boseman also found a place with Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. Royalty, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh who passed away on 9th April was also paid tribute to.
April 2021 was a very sad month for Hindi cinema as both were very popular actors and passed away just one day apart from each other. Irrfan’s son Babil is all slated to appear in Bollywood and Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor is already an acclaimed actor with a number of movie hits.
Rishi Kapoor was part of the iconic Kapoor “Khandan “with stalwarts like Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, amongst other big names. The Kapoor family was bereaved of Rajiv Kapoor also recently.
Rishi Kapoor is survived by his daughter Riddhima, Ranbir and wife Neetu. Neetu Kapoor or Neetu Singh as she was popularly called was a successful film actress who quit the industry post her marriage with Rishi Kapoor.
