With news of the pandemic wreaking havoc and claiming lives rampantly, one is subjected to news of demises coming in from all over including Bollywood. The latest blow has come in announcing the death of Amit Mistry although this was due to a non-COVID cause – a cardiac arrest!
Amit has had a rich career in TV shows and films. His foray into Hindi films is remembered for a few key roles that he played. He had played Preity Zinta’s brother in Kya Kehna. He also starred in, Singh Saab the Great, Yamla Pagla Deewana, Shor in the city, Ek Chalis ki last local amongst others. He is remembered for his role in Chor Bani Thangaat Kare. This was directed by Rahul Bhole and was a Gujarati comedy family drama. His other memorable roles were in Tenali Rama, Ssshhh…Koi Hai, Maddam Sir, and Shubh Mangal Savadhan.

His last recent film was Bandish Pandits which was released on Amazon Prime. Amit was very popular in the Gujrati theatre circuit. His friends and well-wishers from the industry have mourned this loss and have taken to their social media to convey their sorrow. Actress Kubra Sait was one such actor who tweeted and conveyed how heartbroken she was at the news and said he would be greatly missed on earth. She also extended her heartfelt condolences to the family. Amit aged 47 passed away at home today. It is said that he was at home with his parents in Andheri and suffered a massive cardiac arrest and died on the spot. His parents did not get enough time to call for assistance.
His manager Maharshi Desai confirmed the news of his death while speaking to media personnel today. His sudden and unexpected death has left the industry deeply saddened and in a state of shock!
