The well-known Naagin actor was arrested in Vasai on Friday night for allegedly raping a minor in 2019. There was a string surge of support from his co actors and colleagues from the TV fraternity. Producer Ekta Kapoor, actor Karishma Tanna, Anita Hassanandani, Krystal D’Souza and many others supported the actor. Soon after the news broke out a #IstandwithPearl movement on social media started.
Producer Ekta Kapoor wrote out a long post on her Instagram account saying that this accusation was not true and she for one would never side with a child molester. She mentioned that the victim’s mother had spoken to her for a long time and mentioned that this incident and case were fabricated by the child’s father. He wanted to show the mother who was a working mother in poor light saying that she could not take care of her child. The father of the child had according to the mother been cooking up stories. The child in question is aged below 12 years and is a minor. Therefore the actor is being tried on all the charges levied against the sexual abuse of a minor.
Sanjay Patil, DCP Zone 2, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar is handling this case. The actor Pearl V Puri has been booked under the POSCO or The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
DCP Sanjay Patil has however said that the police are acting on the basis of legal evidence and proof. The actor has not been granted bail contrary to Karishma Tanna’s post where she had mentioned that he has been granted bail. He is in 14 days judicial custody as of now.
Peal Puri has amassed a good fan following for his work so far. On his Instagram post recently on the occasion of his birthday he had asked his fans not to send him any gifts and instead feed strays in their areas and even plant trees. He had said those who feed the maximum number of strays and plant the maximum number of tress would get a thank you video from him and he would even try and come on a live with them.
The fate of the actor now remains to be seen based on the future developments.
