Actor Akshay Kumar has now stepped in through the well-known choreographer Ganesh Acharya’s Foundation, to fund the monthly ratio for 3600 dancers.
Bollywood and the entertainment industry have been hit hard by COVID-19. Work has come to a grinding halt with no film production and shoots. There are many who are dependent on this industry for daily sustenance and who have no alternate source of income. There are daily wage workers who are the worst hit. These comprise spot boys, dancers, lightmen, technicians, etc. Akshay Kumar took the responsibility of supporting 3600 Junior dancers from the film industry by donating ration for a month for them. It is reported that on the occasion of choreographer Ganesh Acharya’s birthday when Akshay asked him what gift he wanted he asked for this donation for 3600 dancers or junior choreographers. The Ganesh Acharya Foundation helps the needy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ganesh’s wife devotes a lot of her time in overseeing the food distribution and ensuring that it complies with the COVID-19 protocols. The dancers will have to choose between two options either getting money to cover the expense of one month’s ration or getting food delivered to their doorstep through this foundation.
Akshay’s forthcoming releases include Ram Setu, Bell Bottom, Atrangi Re, Bachchan Pandey, and Sooryavanshi.
This humanitarian gesture of the popular and busy star has been lauded by many.
