Maharashtra has been reeling under a spate of challenges, with an alarming increase in COVID 19 cases. The regular routine of citizens has been disturbed, there have been no theatrical releases recently, daily COVID -19 cases hitting a 60, 000 mark and higher amongst other woes. The latest lockdown till April 30th, allowing only essential items and activities has put a ban on film shoots. Bollywood has been greatly hit by this as film shoots of nearly complete films have been stopped.
Some of the film shoots that were underway in Mumbai or had plans to resume were Heropanti 2, Shabaash Mithu, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Adipurush and Brahmastra
We had already learnt that there was only a day’s shoot of Gangubai Kathiawadi left when lead actor Alia Bhatt contacted COVID -19 and had to home quarantined to recover. The other film in which she stars along with actor Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna. Brahmastra had a Mumbai schedule planned which has been stopped now. Apparently only the final schedule and a song choreographed by Ganesh Acharya was remaining to be shot. The song that had to be shot had nearly 300 dancers and had a set in Film City.
Industry sources revealed that the shoot of Brahmastra had been pushed ahead several times. The film was started in 2018 and till 2021 now there is no completion in sight. Its initial release date was December 4th 2020. It is a film which audiences are keenly awaiting. It is directed by Ayan Mukerji of the Wake-up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fame. Both were Ranbir Kapoor starrers too.
Brahmastra is a fantasy adventure action film and is produced by Karan Johar. Karan has launched Alia Bhatt in his movie Student of the year.
