A We won’t give up, social movement, with stalwarts like Dr. Ashutosh Khatwakar of Bombay Realty, Thane’s Deputy Commissioner Vishwanath Kelkar, and Superintendent, Dr Malgaonkar of Thane’s Covid Hospital (Global Impact) was launched. This unique initiative has the objective of assisting through volunteering, the front-line staff of the hospital, both the medical and the administrative, to deal with the overwhelming influx of COVID-19 afflicted patients.

Commenting on the inception of this movement, Dr. Ashutosh said that he had seen the plight of the hospital administrative and medical staff when his friend was hospitalized because of COVID -19. They were swamped by patients and were very understaffed to deal with them.

Dr. Ashutosh Khatwakar went on to add that this initiative had received immense support from people from all walks of life including celebrities like Boman Irani, TV Actor Nisha Rawal, Film costume designer, Rohit K Verma, Munisha Khatwani, who is a celebrity astrologer, and Tarot card reader and many others.

It is reported that Mr. Vishwanath Kelkar is participating wholeheartedly by putting in close to 14 to 16 hours a day and helping in dealing with the unabated flow of COVID -19 afflicted patients. The various ways in which they are assisting is through housekeeping, setting up a call center facility to maintain a steady information flow between the hospitalized patients and their friends and family members. They are also part of a team that offers free counseling to depressed COVID-19 patients. The team of volunteers also organize sessions on chanting, workshops, and sessions for yoga.

Actor Boman Irani has thanked the front-line staff profusely for working dedicatedly and wholeheartedly. Their round-the-clock service has also been appreciated a lot.

This pandemic has undoubtedly brought together people from all religions and all walks of life to help their fellow human beings.
