Grief over the loss of his son Brandon weighs heavily on Rickey Smiley. On Sunday, comedian Rickey Smiley broke the news on Twitter that his eldest son, Brandon Smiley, had passed away.
The senior Smiley posted a video on his verified Instagram account in which he broke the devastating news about his son, who was 32 years old at the time.
“My son, Brandon Smiley, passed away this morning,” his mother said. “I’m about to board a plane to Birmingham,” Smiley said. “I’m excited.”

The well-known radio show host did not reveal the manner of death or any other pertinent information. However, he did ask those who followed him to pray for him and his family while they were going through this challenging time.
“Pray. “Keep your strength up,” he urged. Please pray for my son’s mother as well as my son’s other children.
Additionally, Smiley asked for prayers for Storm, his son’s daughter.
Through his Twitter account, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin offered his condolences to the Smiley family following the passing of Smiley.
