Whenever the kinetic energy is generated, this electricity powers large turbines connected to generators that produce and store batteries during low consumption periods or release it in other peak demand times as an effective tool on grid control.

    Challenges and prospects for the future

    While there is no doubt that hydroelectric generators are a positive innovation in the global community, they do still face several issues. First of all, the environmental impact of dam construction is always a problem as it can disrupt natural habitats and ecosystems. It is also difficult to initially install and maintain a hydroelectric power plant, thus making it less accessible for developing areas.

    In response to such challenges, researchers have been studying new technologies and innovations that can help increase the efficiency of hydroelectric generators as well as their economic viability. Efforts to further enhance the efficiency of a power plant can include, for example, improving the technology responsible for turbines and generators in order to help prevent energy losses as well as increase efficiencies with respect to how much total capacity is exported by one power plant.
