“The two are in a stage where they gently get to know each other while experiencing positive emotions. We would appreciate it if you could observe the couple with a friendly gaze,” the message read.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap cited Blackpink’s record label YG Entertainment in a similar statement.
Jisoo, 28, is the eldest member of the Blackpink quartet and the only one verified to be in a relationship, despite persistent rumors about the other members’ romantic statuses.
Ahn, 35 years old, made his acting début in 2014 with FN Entertainment and is well-known for his roles in Korean dramas such as “Itaewon Class,” “Yumi’s Cells,” and “Descendants of the Sun.”
Extremely rarely do agencies publicize the romantic relationships of K-pop idols, but the industry is gradually abandoning controversial contract clauses that prohibit performers from dating other celebrities.
Blackpink, comprised of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, debuted in 2016 and experienced a rapid ascent to global fame. In 2018, they were named Time magazine’s Entertainer of the Year, the second K-pop group to receive the honor. In 2019, they became the first Asian act to headline the California-based festival Coachella.
The band is on its second “Born Pink” world tour.
