Of late, life seems to be really unpredictable. Every day when we wake up, we come across new rules and new curbs announced by the government to avoid the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease. Just now when last month we were a little relieved seeing the state governments trying to relax certain travel restrictions, now we have come across a news piece that will shock and disappoint many.

The government of Maharashtra is planning to stop flight and train services between Mumbai and Delhi, considering the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the national capital. Maharashtra chief secretary Sanjay Kumar, however, informed the media, that the final decision is yet to be taken on this.

The rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Delhi was talked about in a fresh review meeting gathered by the chief secretary. The government is also thinking about safety measures to make sure that the deadly infection does not spread from people entering Maharashtra from other cities and states with huge infection rates.

Kumar in a media interaction revealed how the government officials are tracking and keeping a review on the coronavirus situation. Currently, due to the spike in coronavirus cases in Delhi, the Maharashtra government wants to take precautionary measures to ensure that people in the state are safe. Thus, very limited train and flight services are being operated between Mumbai and Delhi. The decision to entirely stop the services between the two cities to travel will be taken in a further period of time, shared Kumar.

Also, the Maharashtra government is looking forward to coming to a decision about the flight and train services that operate between Nagpur and Delhi. The final decision by the officials will be taken only after they meet the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Just when the domestic flights started operating from May 2020, the quarantine period for the passengers coming to the Mumbai airport also was eventually relaxed.
