Michigan backs Biden win, Trump options narrow down

A fresh setback seen for  Donald Trump as his wish to overturn the loss in the US election was silenced by Michigan lawmakers as they indicated they will not look for undoing Joe Biden’s projected win in the state. Also two Republican legislators accepted to follow normal process in re-evaluating the votes after a White House meeting.

Earlier on Friday, Georgia had also given a blow to the US president certifying Mr Biden’s razor-thin margin of victory in a ballot recount It is now evident that the Democrat Biden would take office on 20 January as the 46th US president. The Electoral system, which determines who becomes President, has projected Biden’s victory as 306 as opposed to the Republican 232,. This figure is way above the 270 he needs to win. The overall lead stands at more than 5.9 million in favour of Biden.

Donald Trump had only a few public appearances after the 3 November vote. On Friday he again expressed a false claim of victory, and said I have won, by the way, while addressing an announcement on drug pricing. He made allegations of electoral frauds, without providing any evidence.

Meanwhile his Press Secretary “Kayleigh McEnany” accused the media and the Democrats of hypocrisy.

In 2016 when President Trump became the duly elected president, many, discredited and undermined him and wished to deny his victory.

After a series of defeats in Trumps push to challenge the election results, Donald Trump’s team is still hoping to convince his fellow Republicans in key states to ignore the outcome and declare Mr Trump as the victor, a report said.

President Trump is willing to invite legislators from Pennsylvania which has been won by Joe Biden, to the White House, as was confirmed to reporters by a  senior campaign official.
