Popular actress Nargis Dutt died on 3rd May 1981 after suffering from pancreatic cancer. It was rather unfortunate that she was not present for her son Sanjay Dutt’s Bollywood debut just three days later.

Nargis Dutt married Sunil Dutt, her Mother India co-star in 1958, they had three children. They were Sanjay, Namrata, and Priya. She went on to become a social worker and also had a Rajya Sabha nomination in the year 1980. She made her first Bollywood appearance in 1935 in a film titled ‘Talashe Haq.” She was then called Baby Nargis and was just 6 years old at that time.

She is remembered for her iconic performances in films like “Shree 420” “Chori Chori ‘“Jaagte Raho’’ “Mother India’’ and many others.

Most of her successful movies were with Raj Kapoor, with whom she is said to have shared a very close bond and relationship. Raj Kapoor was a married man with children and he refused to end his marriage to marry Nargis. The actress then ended their 9-year-old relationship and went on to marry Sunil Dutt. Sunil Dutt is said to have saved her from a fire accident that took place on the sets of “Mother India” and he thus saved her life.

Actor Sanjay Dutt is the most controversial of her children with a history of drugs, TADA and Arms act arrest in 1993. In 2018, a biopic titled Sanju was released. Actor Ranbir Kapoor played Sanjay’s character in the film and his performance was well appreciated winning him several laurels and awards. Actor Paresh Rawal played Sunil Dutt and actress Manisha Koirala played Nargis. 

In 2008, Sanjay married Manyta Dutt his current wife. She is an actor too with some small movies to her credit. They have 2 children.
