Director Collin is reportedly still working on the script of Dostana 2 and no star has been confirmed as yet. There were talks of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham Varun Dhawan, and Abhishek Bachchan as the star cast for this film but according to industry sources, none of these stars have been confirmed as yet.
Promagzine had reported in an earlier news scoop that there was a fallout between producer Karan Johar and actor Kartik Aryan, which led to the actor not being a part of Dostana 2. The real reason has not yet been disclosed by either party concerned m but rumors are rife that Kartik’s erratic schedule regarding date commitments and cancellations have resulted in this decision being taken by Karan Johar. A statement released by Dharma Productions said that due to “professional circumstances ’’ Dostana 2 directed by Collin D’Cunha would be recast. This sequel of Dostana is being keenly awaited by the audience. It seems that the focus as of now is on fine-tuning the script. No statement from Kartik Aryan or his team has been forthcoming on his removal from Dostana 2. His upcoming films are Ram Madhvani’s Dhamaka and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 by Aneez Bazmee.
Karan Johar is known to make films on bold themes and Dostana 1 was a comedy that revolved around a gay theme. The film starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, and Priyanka Chopra, with Bobby Deol, Kirron Kher, Sushmita Mukherjee, and Boman Irani in supporting roles.
