According to industry sources after signing on the lead role of Freddy in Red Chillies Production. Kartik Aaryan wanted a change in the script after which he was dropped form the film. Recently he had been signed up opposite Janhvi Kapoor for Dostana 2 being produced by Dharma Productions, but owing to a rumoured disagreement between him and the Head of Dharma, Karan Johar, he was promptly replaced. The film makers however attributed the reason to recasting and other professional reasons. Freddy had Katrina Kaif in the lead. The movie had not yet gone on the floors do not much was lost for the producers except starting the search for the male lead again. Kartik has supposedly returned the signing amount of 2 crores.
However, the film makers of Dostana 2 were not as lucky. They had already shot for 20 days with Kartik when a change in script was demanded by him and they did not agree to it. Hunting for a replacement and canning the already shot portions did result in a huge loss for the production house.
Neither Red Chillies Entertainment nor Kartik have released an official statement on this move as yet.
With 1.1 million followers on his twitter handle, Kartik has been posting some pretty engaging posts. There was a windblown picture of his during the recent cyclone Taukate which hit the coasts of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujrat. He had captioned it saying the cyclone was another reason to stay indoors. On his Instagram account recently, he had posted a picture of him with a face pack and had asked his followers to post only wrong captions for the post. His 21.5 Million fan following must have had a field day racking their brains and letting their creativity loose as was evident from the comments that came in.
