Reid Hoffman’s Goal Is to Prove That AI Is a Net Positive for Society Reid Hoffman has been at the vanguard of the United States technology business for a long time. He was a founding board member of PayPal, a co-founder of LinkedIn, and a partner at the Silicon Valley VC company Greylock. His involvement in the industry spans from the early days of social networking to the debut of new artificial intelligence technologies like ChatGPT.

He accepts that technologists are typically better able to see the benefits of the products and services they develop than they are to anticipate the potential issues those innovations may cause.

However, he claims that he and his contemporaries are working harder than ever to understand and monitor the downstream impacts of technical breakthroughs and minimize risks by changing as they go. He cites this as the primary reason for their increased level of effort.

He discusses the prospects for artificial intelligence, the qualities an entrepreneur should possess, and his expectations for the future. Hoffman hosts the recently premiered show Possible and the popular podcast Masters of Scale.
