Several people were killed during a Halloween celebration in Seoul. According to the chief of the Yongsan Fire Department, at least 59 people were killed in a Halloween incident in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood on Saturday night.

At least 150 others were also injured, according to the chief.

Although the cause of the deaths was not immediately disclosed, the chief stated that many people fell during the Halloween festivities, resulting in casualties.

According to Yonhap News Agency, people suffered from “cardiac arrest,” which was attributed to fire authorities. At least 81 people reported “difficulty breathing” to emergency personnel in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood. Authorities have yet to provide specifics on the incident’s cause.

The area in Seoul’s Itaewon neighborhood was cordoned off by police, and social media videos showed people lying in the streets.

According to the presidential office, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol dispatched a disaster medical assistance team to the Halloween incident.

According to presidential spokesman Lee Jae-Myung, the president also directed authorities to secure emergency beds in nearby hospitals and to carry out swift rescue and treatment operations.

According to the office, Yoon was in an emergency meeting about the situation.
