The World Cup-winning image by Lionel Messi becomes the most shared social media post in history. The post on Instagram by Lionel Messi honoring Argentina’s World Cup victory has now surpassed all other social media posts in terms of likes.

The American singer and social media star Bella Poarch, of Filipino descent, set the previous record for most views on a TikTok video back in 2020. The Argentine superstar has now surpassed it.

Messi, a star for Paris Saint-Germain, posted ten photos on Instagram of the celebrations in Qatar following Argentina’s thrilling penalty shootout victory over France.

Since Messi posted it, it has received an astounding 64.5 million likes. The forward’s social media following has also been proliferating; it now stands at 404 million.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, supporters, and everyone who believed in us. “The merit belongs to this group, which is above individualities; it is the strength of all fighting for the same dream,” the saying goes, “and we prove once more that Argentines, when we fight together and united, we are capable of achieving what we set out to do.”

With her TikTok video from August 2020, Poarch no longer has the most-liked post on any social media platform.

She was seen lip-syncing the British rapper Millie B’s song “M to the B” in the video.

Sportsmail reported today that Messi’s photo had surpassed ‘the egg,’ which received 56.1 million likes, to become the most-liked Instagram image of all time.

Messi’s photo has received an additional eight million likes and two million more followers since the publication of that story on Tuesday morning.

Given the steadily rising numbers, it might be challenging for any social media post to surpass the current record set by Messi.

However, with a staggering 519 million followers, Ronaldo remains the title of Instagram’s most popular user.

He attained 500 million followers on the social media platform for the first time last month.

Messi trails the Portuguese star by a wide margin in terms of followers, and the two athletes are the only ones in the top 10.

The remaining top ten performers are Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Khloe Kardashian, and Justin Bieber.

Messi scored twice in the Qatari championship game and successfully converted his shootout penalty.

On Monday, the PSG forward and his teammates flew from Qatar back to Argentina, where they celebrated their World Cup victory in front of thousands of ecstatic supporters.
