To pay their respects, William, Kate, Meghan, and Harry visited Windsor, On Saturday, William and Catherine, the new Prince and Princess of Wales, were seen viewing tributes outside the grounds of Windsor Castle alongside Prince Harry and Meghan.
When the Queen passed away, Harry and Meghan were on a quick visit to the UK.
Harry, like other senior members of the royal family, went to Balmoral Castle in Scotland to be at the Queen’s side as she worsened, and a spokesperson for the heir to the throne said William had extended an invitation for the Windsor walk.
A member of the royal family said it was a powerful display of solidarity during a trying period. All dressed in black, they piled out of the same vehicle.
During the 40-minute walkabout, the couples did not engage much with one another as they paused to read messages put among the flowers, shake hands with hundreds of people lined the Long Walk, and hear words written by the children of the royal family.
One woman in the throng even reached out to give Meghan a hug as they all waited for their turn to meet and greet the four royals. While Kate and Harry graciously collected flowers and well-wishes from the throng, Prince William spent time on his knees conversing with kids.
During the period of national grief and the official burial for Queen Elizabeth, royal observers were hoping for signs of a thaw.
On Friday, Charles made his first address to the nation as King to declare his “love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas.”
He also bestowed upon his son-in-law William and his daughter-in-law Kate the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales, which he and his late wife Diana had previously held.
The days after the Queen’s death were “very weird,” William was overheard saying to a well-wisher.
We all felt she was indestructible,” he remarked.
Since Harry’s father, Charles, is now King, his grandchildren, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, are entitled to be crowned prince and princess under the norms of the British monarchy. Queen Lili’s childhood nickname was Lilibet, thus the baby was given that name.
Whether or not they will actually accept the titles is unclear.
“Focusing on the next 10 days is our current priority. Any further details will be posted to the [royal] website as soon as they become available to us “a royal spokesman assured the press.
