While the Nation and Bollywood have been mourning the loss of thespian Dilip Kumar, social media has become a fertile ground for trolling and brick batting. Recently Urmila Matondkar who is an actor turned politician, reacted to a tweet by BJP leader, Arun Yadav in Hindi. In this particular tweet, he mentions how Yousuf Khan or Dilip Kumar had used a Hindi name to earn a livelihood in the Hindi film industry. Urmila Matondkar whose roots are in Bollywood was greatly irked by this remark. She responded with a thumbs down and “Shame on you’’ written.
Dilip Kumar has commanded immense love and respect from Bollywood and the Nation. He was referred to as the tragedy king and the first Khan. He had introduced a different form of acting and is remembered for that. Dilip Kumar’s ancestral home is in Peshawar and his millions of fans in Pakistan are mourning his death and remembering him by lighting candles. Dilip Kumar passed away at the ripe age of 98, leaving millions grieving for him. His devoted wife Saira Banu is heartbroken and condolences are pouring in from all over. Several actors like Shahrukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi turned up to pay their last respects to the departed actor.
During the recent years, Dilip Saab as he was popularly called was in and out of hospital following several age-related ailments and Saira Banu was always quick to update his fans and well-wishers about his progress and when he was likely to be discharged, etc, but this time he did not make it. He breathed his last yesterday. Some of his memorable films were Devdas. Mughal – E-Azam, Ram aur Shyam. Ganga Jumna, Naya Daur etc. His more recent films were Karma, Saudagar, amongst others.
