Surat-based jewelry designer Kanika Rana is well-acclaimed for the exquisite jewelry that she designs. This fashionista believes in creating jewelry that makes the person wearing it feel special. Kanika Rana was fascinated by diamonds and jewelry ever since she was a child. This love for jewelry shaped up into a successful career for her as a professional jewelry designer. One day, while she was rummaging through her grandmother’s jewelry collection, she saw some exquisite designs and it was then that she wanted to create her own. Se got married in the diamond city of Surat.
She was fascinated by the growth and exposure opportunities offered by the city. Kanika had limited knowledge of diamonds which she chose to develop into an in-depth one. She completed valuation and grading courses in Surat and then followed them up with a jewelry designing course. She started with small orders at home on a small scale and started getting many orders for real diamond jewelry. Eventually, she launched her own line of jewelry “Kanika Rana Fine Jewellery.” Recently Kanika Rana has embarked on a new venture which is an online one of Swarovski, Kundan, and semi-precious stones. She has also expanded her venture into creating customized designs for her clients. Kanika says that in the jewelry designing field one must know what the client desires and wants.
Customer preferences are very important. One must also be open to experimentation and be unafraid of doing that from time to time. Kanika says one must be flexible and adaptable, rigidity at work kills the ability to succeed. She further goes on to add that each piece of jewelry weaves a story about the person wearing it.
